About Republican Al Cowan
Al Cowan is not a career politician; he is a businessman. He has started and owned small businesses. He has worked in the private sector for large corporations. He has served his community as the President of his local school board. He has served his Country as a military officer.
Born in Austin, Al earned a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a Master’s degree in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin.
Al has business experience with the oil and gas industry and, through family, knowledge of agriculture.
The son of a U.S. Army Brigadier General, Al served his military commitment as an Infantry 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Reserve.
Al and his wife, Penny, from Midland, have been married for over 38 years. They have two children, Alvin and Beth.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
We simply cannot continue to drive ourselves further and further into debt, be it from big bailouts or hidden budget earmarks. Al will work to reign in out of control Federal spending to secure our financial future and that of our children and grandchildren.
SPECIAL INTERESTS
Special interests have too much control over incumbent Congressmen which causes them to stop listening to their constituents. Al will listen to and vote with the people he represents.
TERM LIMITS
We have term limits for the highest office in our Country, President of the United States. Many people think that term limits for members of Congress is an idea whose time has come.
Al supports term limits to help clean up the problems in Washington and pledges, if elected, to serve no more than three terms which is six years.
